SCOA Annual Meeting Reminder
Time is Running out, make your plans now for next weekend February 3,4 & 5th to attend the 2012 Annual SCOA Meeting.

Contact the Commodore and let him know you are coming so there is room and food. Dan Seefahrt - SCOA commodore -
SC31 005 Islandia Daniel Seefahrt <danseefit@yahoo.com>

Here is what is happening. Come meet new and experienced members to share project, cruising, menus and sailing stories
from near and far.

Of special interest is Kevin Montague of NorthEast Rigging will provide in depth analysis and options for maintaining and
improving your rig and sail handling. Kevin has been in the marine hardware business for over 30 years and has a wealth of
knowledge on sailing, systems and rig design. You may have seen him at various boat shows and works closely with
Harken and Lewmar to improve thier products. http://www.nerigging.com/

Steve Thurston, president and owner of Quantum Sails will also be on hand to talk to owners.  Steve is a third generation
sail maker working from his loft in Bristol Rhode Island. Steve has a keen attention to detail and his work is know all over
the world. Steve and his family built many Southern Cross sails many originals are still used. I know I used my original
Thurston mainsail for many years with trips to Bermuda, Newfoundland and over 5 trips to Maine and over 20 summers and
can attest to their knowledge and workmanship. http://www.quantumsails.com

Several owners including our own Captain Ed Casazza will be on hand and presenting about their sailing, upgrade projects
and more.

We are please to host a dinner presentation  “Cruising Newfoundland & the Maritimes.” by Blue Water sailors  Brian and
Susan Schanning. They will describe their cruise through New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and the French
islands of St. Pierre and Miquelon during the summers of 2010 and 2011.  Their presentation will include pictures
highlighting the many secluded Maritime anchorages and the spectacular Newfoundland fjords they visited aboard Sogno,
their Gozzard 37 sailboat. Brian and Susan Schanning have cruised extensively along the East Coast from the Bahamas to
Newfoundland. They are also members of the Seven Seas Cruising Association, Ocean Cruising Club, Marblehead Sail &
Power Squadron, and the Marblehead Yacht Club.

Come join us.

SCOA History has been posted under the members only section

Web update:
Members only section has been updated to include the latest newsletters and we have posted the presentations
from the annual meeting in February which was a big success.

Want to share information with other SCOA members? The web site is fine for posting newsletters and
providing resources for members like the directory, but if you want to share and discuss with other SCOA
members this may work better. The difference between this site and the Yahoo site is membership. This one is for
SCOA members only and members can post pictures of events like the annual meeting, rendezvous or boat
projects.
To join,  go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SCOA-SouthernCrossOwners/

John Hallinan has posted some pictures of the annual meeting - if you have some to share pls post.
